Day 1: Monday the 21st January 2019
Talk 1: Key findings from over 3 billion mobile gamers
When: 9:20am – 9:40am
Speakers: Ioana Hreninciuc, CEO at GameAnalytics
We’re actually starting off this year’s conference with our own session. Taking insights from our latest report, our CEO, Ioana Hreninciuc, will be deconstructing data and highlighting key findings from a study of over 3 billion gamers. This talk promises to be full of top stats and key findings, as well as useful advice any developer could benefit from (all backed by data).
If you sadly can’t make it, you can download a copy of the report here. Equally, our team will be available throughout the event, so feel free to book a meeting with one of us: Iván Bravo, Dev Jadav or Renato Gallo.
Talk 2: Panel – The history of the UK’s mobile gaming industry [UKIE]
When: 10:40am – 11:20am
Speakers: George Osborn, Founder at Go Editorial; Nicoll Hunt, Client Developer at Space Ape Games; Adrienne Law, Producer at UsTwo Games; Matthew Wiggins, CEO at MojiWorks; Saad Choudri, Chief Commercial Officer at Miniclip
To honour Ukie’s 30th Birthday and their new ‘30 Years of Play’ campaign, PGC are hosting a live panel discussion exploring the past, present and future of British mobile gaming. During this panel session, they’ll be digging deep into how game developers in the past have adapted to the changing mobile landscape, and will look forward at how mobile game companies across the country are evolving to meet the future needs of players.
With 5 industry experts discussing what is one of the most important topics on everyone’s minds, this is definitely a panel you shouldn’t miss.
Talk 3: What do movie directors, motorcyclists and historians know about making games?
When: 12:00pm – 12:20pm
Speakers: Todd Green, Head of London Studio at King
Ever wondered how some of the biggest game studios go about creating addictive and brilliant games? If so, you should definitely sit in on Todd Green’s session on day 1. Not only will Todd be telling us why developers should be reaching out to other industries for inspiration, but will also shine a light on the way he and King think about making games.
You can expect plenty of behind-the-scenes insights here, so make sure you’ve got your notebooks at the ready.
Talk 4: Keynote – The year of hyper-casual in APAC [JoyPac]
When: 2:00pm – 2:20pm
Speakers: Jeppe Bisbjerg, VP Publishing at JoyPac
Having previously been dominated by core strategy and pvp-multiplayer RPG’s, the APAC market is starting to see a rise in the hyper-casual games category. With this in mind, the VP of Publishing at JoyPac, Jeppe Bisbjerg, will explore how this trend will continue to spread as it sweeps into Asia this year.
If you’re at all interested in the rapidly evolving landscape of the APAC region and its driving forces, then this session is a must-see.
Day 2: Tuesday the 22nd January 2019
Talk 5: Superstar Session: From Reign To Game Of Thrones [Nerial]
When: 10am – 10:20am
Speakers: Francois Alliot, Director at Nerial
The original Reigns game is arguably one of the best mobile games to be released in 2016. 2 years later, and Director Francois Alliot found himself working with one of the biggest TV shows ever to be released. But how exactly did he get here? And what were the steps he took in shaping his mobile game for the world of the hit fantasy epic Game of Thrones?
Although there hasn’t been a specific agenda released for this session yet, we’re all very excited to learn more from Nerial.
Talk 6: Esports – More Than A Sport [Riot Games]
When: 2:20pm – 2:40pm
Speakers: Mo Fadl, Head of Esports UK at Riot Games
Still a relatively new thing in the world of gaming, eSports has come a tremendous way in the last 12 years. Recent tournaments for games like Overwatch, PUBG and Hearthstone have seen formidable prize pools of $500,000, with some competitions even going up to $1,500,000 (as seen in the Dota 2 competition at WESG 2017).
But what makes a game eSport compatible? And what does the future look like for this genre of gaming? Although Mo hasn’t revealed the details of what he will be covering, this talk will surely tackle some of the biggest questions when it comes to the eSports industry.
Talk 7: The Bridge To Your Mobile App Business In APAC [Mintegral]
When: 3:20pm – 3:40pm
Speakers: Christian Atack, Head of Publisher Business Development EMEA at Mintegral
More and more developers and studios are taking the leap into the APAC market. As mobile games are one of the biggest industries in this region (accounting for over $38 billion in game revenues in China alone), it’s crucial that developers not only get their foot in the door, but also that they do this right.
One of the biggest questions developers find themselves asking is how exactly they should be doing this. If you are one of these studios, then definitely pop into this session for some valuable insights.
