GameAnalytics Product Update: February 2020

In recent months, we've made several updates to the GameAnalytics platform. To get you up to speed with what's new, we've listed all of the most recent changes in this nifty blog.

We know it’s been a couple of months since our most recent product update, so let’s get you back up to speed with the latest changes to our platform and family of SDKs.

To fill you in, we’ve listed out what we’ve improved within the GameAnalytics tool – whether big or small. If you have any questions or feel like we’ve missed something feel free to get in touch, and we’ll get back to you right away.

Important Update: A/B Testing is now live! [June 2020]

We’re glad you found this page, but it’s a bit outdated now. We’ve actually published A/B testing, which can be accessed in our tool by all developers. We strongly recommend you read our latest blog post on this to learn what you can do and what you can expect. You can read it here.

Better yet, we’ve made A/B Testing completely free for the remainder of 2020. So what are you waiting for?

A/B Testing

In November 2019, we released A/B Testing for early access. Since then, we’ve been testing at scale, making performance improvements, fixing bugs, and have now added the following features:

  • Filter and split by experiments within the Explore Tool
  • Target experiments to new players by specific Countries and OS
  • Copy experiments
  • Schedule experiments
  • Custom variant names

If you’re interested in joining our early access program, you can apply for it here.

Remote Configs

Within the same update, we also released Remote Configs to replace the current Command Center Configs feature.

With that being said, we’ll be shutting down our legacy Command Center Configs feature on March 2nd, 2020. You can learn more about it in our migration guide.

Ad Events

We’ve also added a new event category: Ad Event – where you can track when players interact with ads within your game and monitor your ad performance.

Ad Event metrics and filters are now available within the Explore Tool and A/B Testing.

If you want to learn more, head over to our event types knowledge base here.

SDK

  • Added auto-detection of app build version for all iOS/Android SDKs

Explore Tool

  • Added Ad metrics such as ad counts and ad impressions
  • Added Ad filters, such as ad SDK, ad placement, and ad type
  • Fixed the issue where duplicate table rows would appear for large date ranges when viewing data for retention
  • Fixed the issue where some progression events were missing from Filters
  • Fixed the issue where splits would not work with attribution filters and playtime metrics
  • Multiple fixes for when retention metrics are grouped by non-time values
  • Numerous fixes for saved queries

Dashboards

  • Fixed the issue where filters and splits would not load when expanding a dashboard widget
  • Fixed the issue where widgets would not remain in the same position when editing a custom dashboard

What else is on the horizon?

We’re continually updating and improving our Tool and want to be as clear with you as possible about what we’re working on. So we’ve put together a list of key improvements, features, and fixes that you’ll be able to see on the platform soon.

In some cases, we’ll be releasing new features and products to our latest project, GA Labs – where you get early access to all of our upcoming products and the opportunity to make an impact on our feature roadmap. With your feedback, we can then make sure we’re building products/features that meet the needs and expectations of the GameAnalytics community.

Here’s what we’re working on at the moment:

Analytics

  • Filter by cohort days within Dashboards and Explore Tool
  • Option to pick favorite filters
  • Keep dates and filters when navigating between Dashboard, Explore Tool and Cohorts

Remote Configs

  • Target player segments: Build, Country and OS

Cohorts – GA Labs

We’ve been working on a brand new Cohorts tool, with an updated user interface and new features. We’ll be releasing this to all users as part of GA Labs in March 2020.

A/B Testing – GA Labs

  • Additional ad metrics
  • Target custom game builds
  • Goal metrics – where the winning variant is calculated using Bayesian statistics
