About the Data team

You’ll be given the resources and data to learn what makes games go all the way from soft launch to industry hit, and the opportunity to help us engage our passionate community in a sector that’s seeing amazing growth. This is a great opportunity for very driven and dedicated Senior Data Scientist with interest in Machine Learning algorithms. As the largest games analytical firm globally, collecting ~100,000 events per second, resulting in new 700Gb of (compressed) new data per day it’s a great role!

This is truly Big Data! Nowhere else will you have the chance to develop and deliver analytic solutions of this size in a small and nimble firm of our size. The Data Team is currently developing new predictive features, delving deeper into machine learning as we create new and exciting products and services for our game developers and publishers. You will support the team as they learn more about these aspects, nurturing their talent and growing alongside them too!

Key requirements

What would you do?
  • Work closely with our product team to develop new and interesting features for our core analytics platform
  • Build solutions for but not limited to: customer segmentation and targeting, propensity modelling, churn modelling, lifetime value estimation, forecasting, recommendation systems, modelling response to incentives, and price optimisation
  • Structure experiments and build mathematical models to identify game optimisations points which will help game developers improve player experience
  • Ad-hoc analysis of game data and market behaviour of the mobile games industry
  • Provide testing techniques and methodologies in order to assess impact and effectiveness of business initiatives
  • Prototype new ways to visualise and understand data relationships
What are we looking for?
  • Several years of commercial experience working ideally within the private sector
  • Proven leadership skills mentoring/ coaching other more junior Data Scientists
  • Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Random Forests, etc.
  • High levels of emotional intelligence with the ability to build strong rapport with a variety of stakeholder
  • Excellent applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
  • Experience with common data science toolkits, such as R, Weka, NumPy, MatLab. Excellence in at least one of these is highly desirable
  • An expert in SQL and RDBMS concepts, including experience in working with large data sets
  • Good scripting and programming skills using languages like Java, Scala, Python, R or Perl.
  • Outwardly looking — ideally you’d be involved in the wider data science community.
  • Experience of visually communicating results and working alongside designers
  • Experience working with data pipelines and modelling in a production environment
